Plex has experienced an information break and is requiring all users to change their passwords

Suspicious activity was detected on Plex's databases yesterday

The email addresses, usernames, and encrypted passwords of users were subsequently accessed

The uplifting news is, those passwords were hashed, yet Plex isn't taking any risks, thus the prerequisite to pick another password

In a letter to clients, Plex said it has proactively recognized the strategy used to get in to the databases and prevented it from being possible again

Plex is one of the largest media server applications that is used by over 20 million individuals

Financial information also appears to be safe in spite of the breach, as “credit card and other payment data are not stored on the servers
